ASUS P8Z77 WS Workstation Motherboard Review

By Daniel Dobrowolski   May 22, 2012

The ASUS P8Z77 WS is the latest in the ASUS "Workstation" series and has virtually every feature but the kitchen sink thrown into it. If you are looking for a board that can fill almost any role while utilizing a desktop LGA1155 processor, then this motherboard is worth a serious look. Maybe 4-way 8 Lane PCIe 3.0 gets your attention?

    MSI Z77A-GD65 LGA1155 Motherboard Review

By Daniel Dobrowolski   May 15, 2012

MSI has been on a roll with its motherboards as of late. It’s because of this that our expectations for MSI’s foray into the world of Z77 chipset based motherboards are so high. MSI’s "GD65" series of motherboards have been an especially solid value and the Z77A-GD65 looks to be no different.

ASUS Sabertooth Z77 LGA 1155 Motherboard Review

By Daniel Dobrowolski   April 20, 2012

ASUS brings us another gem in the form of the Sabertooth Z77. It is one of the first in a new generation of Z77 Express chipset based motherboards which many will no doubt consider when Intel’s next generation Ivy Bridge processors drop soon. The beauty of it is, being LGA 1155, Sandy Bridge will work just fine, if not downright well.

By Daniel Dobrowolski   April 09, 2012

MSI pulls out all the stops to create the Big Bang XPower II. A true enthusiast class motherboard designed for over the top enthusiast rigs. The XPower II is able to satisfy the overclocker and fits the needs of the multi-GPU user looking for a bigger bang. And yes, you even get fake bullets and guns on your heatsinks.

ASRock X79 Extreme4 Motherboard Review Take Two

By Daniel Dobrowolski   April 03, 2012

We’ve had some rough experiences with ASRock motherboards since we started reviewing this company's products. So in a HardOCP first, we pit two ASRock boards of the same model against each other and look at matters from another perspective. The perspective of quality and consistency.

    ASUS Shows Off Z77 Motherboards

By Kyle Bennett   March 06, 2012

If you find new motherboards to be worthy of eye candy, then we have a treat for you as ASUS pulled back the curtains on its Z77 model motherboards last week here in Dallas, TX. While there is a whole lot we can't tell you about the next generation Intel processors to occupy the LGA1155 socket, we can run down a very new software feature set.

    Intel DX79SI X79 LGA2011 Motherboard Review

By Daniel Dobrowolski   February 28, 2012

Intel desktop processors are all but useless unless you have a motherboard to plug it into. Intel has been making its own model of enthusiast motherboards for quite some time now and honestly has very rarely hit the target. Today we are reviewing the Intel® Desktop Board DX79SI, LGA2011, Sandy Bridge E motherboard.

    ASRock X79 Extreme9 LGA 2011 Motherboard Review

By Daniel Dobrowolski   February 09, 2012

Our experiences around here with ASRock haven’t been the best. Though the last one we tested actually did really well. As a result of our great experiences with the Extreme4 we can only hope the ASRock X79 Extreme9 follows suit. The Extreme9 is ASRock's most expensive Sandy Bridge E motherboard, we hope it acts like it.

    ASRock X79 Extreme4 LGA 2011 Motherboard Review

By Daniel Dobrowolski   January 12, 2012

After the last couple of ASRock boards, I wasn’t sure if I ever wanted to see another one. The ASRock X79 Extreme4 not only surpassed my admittedly low expectations, but proved to be the exact opposite of the last two motherboards. Grab a sandwich and read on. You don’t want to miss this one.

Gigabyte X79-UD5 LGA 2011 Motherboard Review

By Daniel Dobrowolski   December 28, 2011

Gigabyte brings us another beautiful board in the form of the X79-UD5. Should this board be on your short list or is beauty only PCB deep? See how this LGA 2011 socket board stacks up with the Sandy Bridge E boards we have seen so far. This UD5 model is feature rich for a decent price, but, does it blend?

By Daniel Dobrowolski   December 19, 2011

ASUS expands its ROG line once again to include offerings based on Intel’s latest X79 chipset and support for the new Sandy Bridge-E processors. The ASUS Rampage IV Extreme comes from a long line of Rampage motherboards most of which have been excellent products. Our expectations are extremely high for this "Extreme" offering.
