AT&T, Verizon to Refrain From Tracking Users Online
Officials from three of the nations largest ISPs testified yesterday before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee that they would not deliver ads based on consumer surfing habits unless they receive explicit permission to do so.
Internet service providers AT&T, Verizon and Time Warner Cable have promised not to track users' Web surfing for targeted ads without permission. The ISPs told a Senate committee that they would not deliver ads based on consumer Web surfing. The Electronic Privacy Information Center told the committee it should be looking at Google.
