Verizon: Put the brakes on broadband monitoring

Verizon has put forth a proposal to self regulate broadband monitoring and has put out a set of guidelines that consists of three main areas…consent, security and sensitive information. Verizon also said that, under the plan, that violators of the rules would be punished by the Federal Trade Commission.

One noteworthy development is that Verizon -- which, we should point out, has never been a NebuAd partner -- is going to suggest a plan that amounts to a self-regulatory mechanism and no new federal laws.
