Unethical To Own An iPod
NewsFactor has an editorial on the conditions people work under as they manufacture US products overseas. The article asks if it is “ethical to own an iPod?” but goes on to make a broader point that almost everything we buy is made under the same conditions.
And, so we wonder: is it ethical to own an iPod, given that it might be made by people working ungodly amounts of overtime, in an environment that may or may not have labor laws enforced? The answer is awfully tricky, say many labor experts.
The problem? Companies should be ashamed that 11 year olds are working 12 hours a day 6 days a week making my iPod. We should boyco….wait, what’s that you say?...25% off sale on iPods? I’ll take two if gift wrapping is free. Now, back to what I was saying about some kids working or something...
