Spyware Sniffers Fail

McAfee, one of the largest consumer anti virus makers, recently had a bit of a quiz to see how many people could properly detect web pages that contained spyware. The resultant was a 97 percent failure rate. This is why I am a big supporter of bundling a great anti virus and anti spyware tool into Windows from the factory.

In an online quiz run by McAfee's recently-acquired SiteAdvisor, a service that alerts users of possible spyware- and adware-infecting sites via search results at Google, Yahoo, and MSN, 97 percent of more than 14,000 consumers were fooled by one or more malicious sites.

This is why we need top notch browsers and protection, because most of the masses aren’t as savvy when it comes to detecting this stuff. We, on the other hand, have been browsing porn long enough to know when not to click.
