Firefox Hits 50 Million:

All of you Firefox users can pat yourselves on the back, Firefox hit the 50 million downloads mark this morning. Firefox gave out some limited edition coins to celebrate. Damn, I was hoping to hear the CEO was going to climb Mt. Everest or something to celebrate.

At 8:58 AM PST this morning, we rolled over the 50,000,000 downloads line. Thanks to the hundreds of you who have regaled us with your heartwarming and often hilarious tales of spreading Firefox.

Mars Rover Stuck:

Oh no…the Mars rover is stuck in a sand dune. We told NASA to use [H] approved 37” BFG Mud Terrains but would they listen? Noooooo! Now look what happened.

"A note to all you Opportunity fans: Get used to the current scenery, because we’re going to be here awhile," said Steve Squyres, lead scientist on the Mars Exploration Rover effort at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. "We are very optimistic that we’ll be able to get out of here, but we’re really going to take our time doing it."

MS Servers Go 64-bit:

MS upgraded its servers to the new 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003. Why this is news, I have no idea. It’d be news (and funny) if they refused to upgrade to their own product.

Danny Beck, Microsoft Windows client senior product marketing manager, confirmed Friday that servers running the company's Web site and MSN Search and Messenger applications had been migrated to the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003.
