Tuniq Propeller vs. Thermalright Venemous X
Thermalright has been a company name that is synonymous with high end CPU air cooling for years now. Tuniq is one of the newer guys on the block when it comes to the elite heatsink and fan unit. Today we have a showdown of epic proportions, at least to the computer hardware cooling enthusiast. Propeller vs. Venemous X.
Thermalright Venemous X
The Venemous X is the newest heat sink from the crew at Thermalright. Its design mimics that of the Ultra Extreme and in fact it shares almost identical specs. The differences between the two are pretty hard to spot and in fact are largely cosmetic. The Venemous X comes with a slightly different look to the fins as well as its packaging. The other difference is the mounting system used by the Venemous X includes a pressure bolt for the user to increase the force from a minimum of forty pounds to a maximum of seventy pounds. For the record, all test will be performed at the maximum pressure of seventy pounds.

Lately Thermalright has moved away from their iconic plain brown packaging for their heat sinks. They have started using more colorful implementations and the Venemous X is no different. Opening the box we can see the attention to detail Thermalright has given their product.

Contents & Flatness
Thermalright bags up all necessary contents neatly inside a plastic pouch. Included are detailed instructions for installing the heat sink as well as a list of all included accessories.
The base of the Venemous X is not what I would call flat and exhibits many waves as highlighted in the image. The center portion of the base appears flat though we will find out how much these waves in the base affect its performance.

Installation & Contact
Installing the Venemous X was a straight forward process. The mounting kit is very strong and uses a two screw method. This is the preferred method since it limits the chance of a faulty installation. In fact I was able to get solid contact on my first try.
Contact with the CPU is excellent and is thanks to the simple mounting system used by Thermalright. The mounting bracket also supports a 90 degree rotation should you want to point the fan in a different direction.
