Looking for something different when it comes to power supplies with a bit more "coolness" in how it looks? Sigma steps up with a Shark that looks to swim a stealthy path, but does it have the bite to go along with the sharkskin suit?
Sigma is a name that is probably not very familiar to most users; however Sigma’s “sister” brand RaidMax is probably more familiar as is their parental company Raidcom Technologies. As a company Raidcom Technologies has been around for some time know and is most familiar to users because of the cases and other accessories they produce. However, the Raidmax brand has carried power supply offerings for some time from various OEM’s. Today though, the Sigma branded unit the Shark (SP-635) we are looking at is a more current offering and it is sourced from Andyson.
Andyson is a company that end users may or may not be familiar with as they have provided the basis for a number of Hiper power supplies, Sunbeamtech power supplies, some BFG power supplies (ES-800) and probably at this point most famously Ultra. Ultra and BFG have used Andyson to produce some spectacular products including to date the single highest DC output power supply for a standard PC available in North America the Ultra X3 1600w. Today’s Andyson built offering comes in at exactly half that DC output but represents a radically new design for Andyson built units that promises to be interesting as we will see in a bit.

To date, in the 550w to 650w power range we have reviewed 11 power supplies that represent a wide range of price, quality, performance, and origins but to date none has advertised itself as a top level predator. Today though, Sigma presents us with the Sigma Shark SP-635 which by the name seems to be looking to take a bite out of the competition.
High quality black mesh wrap for main ATX cabling.
Shark Fins that dissipate heat away from the psu!
Dual 80mm blue LED cooling fans that keep airflow circulating through the psu.
All the connectors you can possibly need!!
Hexflo honeycomb technology for maximum airflow.
All wires are wrapped with mesh cabling
Oddly though, for such an aggressively themed unit Sigma's website is practically devoid of marketing and information on the unit. Let's hope this kind of disclosure is not indicative of things to come today while we move on and see what we can expect when a user purchases the Sigma Shark SP-635 supply in retail in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
