AMD Reveals 4-Way CrossFire & New Roadmaps
CrossFire expands its reach and we have roadmaps for desktop, notebook, server, and workstation along with a full platform overview that looks all the way out to year 2012.
Introduction
The following roadmaps and slides are information that was released at AMD's Analyst Day this morning in Sunnyvale, CA. Most of these obviously do not require a lot of narration, so we will leave you to the slides. You might want to take a look at our 3-way CrossFire & Phenom at 3GHz news post this morning as well as our "AMD's Direction and Next-Gen Bulldozer Revealed." All the news this morning has certainly inspired many thoughts and feelings to be expressed in our AMD forum. Please feel free to join.
AMD 4-Way CrossFire
While the slide does not exactly spell it out, the inclusion of 4 2900 XT video cards in the graphic is no accident. While we have not seen 4-way CrossFire operational, you can see at the link above that 3-way CrossFire is very much working on the new 790 chipset platform featuring an Agena core Phenom processor at 3GHz.

AMD Next-Gen Server & Workstation Roadmap
This is obviously forward looking as Barcelona servers and workstations are already being produced in order to high the Q307 sales date.
Platform Progression & AMD's “PIPe”
This is an interesting slide that outlines AMD's "stable platform progression" since the introduction of the K8 in 2003. If nothing else it serves as a nifty snapshot of what advances the enthusiast community has seen over the last 4 years.
And finally AMD comes to answer Intel's "Tick Tock" architecture cycle. Intel is undoubtedly at an advantage here and it will be interesting if AMD will keep pace with the 2009 timeframe for Bulldozer which was laid out earlier today.
