ASUS P5NSLI
ASUS’ P5NSLI motherboard mates full support for Intel’s new Core 2 Duo line of processors and NVIDIA’s dual card SLI architecture. With both of these winning technologies, ASUS is almost assured to have a powerhouse on its hands.
BIOS (continued)
The CPU Configuration submenu within the Advanced tab contains various options for configuring CPU operation, including C1E and SpeedStep configuration. The PCIPnP submenu contains a single option for configuring the primary display adapter. Take note that there are no options for configuring the board’s IRQ or interrupt settings whatsoever. The USB Configuration submenu contains all USB port related options.
The Onboard Device Configuration submenu contains options for configuring the onboard IDE and RAID controller, as well as the integrated LAN and audio devices. All drive related setting for both IDE and SATA type devices, with the exception of those related to the integrated RAID controller, are located within the IDE Function Setup submenu. The NVRAID Configuration submenu contains all RAID controller related options. Note that the RAID boot BIOS will not show on startup unless the RAID Enable option is set to Enabled and at least one SATA device is RAID enabled.
The HardWare Monitor submenu within the Power tab contains real-time statistics on all BIOS monitored system temperatures, fan speeds, and voltages. Also included are options for enabling system fan control through the Q-Fan Controller option and the setting of a system initiated warning sound should the CPU fan speed fall below a system set threshold.
The Boot tab contains various submenus for configuring boot device access order. When a USB 2.0 device is attached and properly detected at system startup, the device shows as a selectable boot device in the Hard Disk Drives submenu. The access order of the items listed can be changed using the PgUp and PgDn or the (+) and (-) keys.
The Tools tab contains submenus for configuring various useful features integrated in to the BIOS. The ASUS Music Alarm submenu allows for configuration of a BIOS initiate alarm to sound at a specified time for a specific duration. The ASUS EZ Flash 2 submenu contains a BIOS flashing mechanism that has the ability to read and write BIOS files from any connected device, including USB 2.0 devices. The ASUS O.C. Profile submenu contains a number of menus for loading and saving current BIOS settings in to 2 different profiles, or to a custom BIOS file.
