BFGTech GeForce 6800Ultra OC

What kind of gaming experience does the BFGTech GeForce 6800Ultra OC video card deliver? That is exactly what we show you.

Introduction:

If you aren’t familiar with the specifications on the GeForce 6800Ultra then please read our technical article and our initial preview of a reference NVIDIA GeForce 6800Ultra. The GeForce 6800Ultra GPU from NVIDIA was announced on April 14th of this year. Here it is the end of June and we are finally starting to see availability.

BFG Tech is one company that is pulling out all the stops to bring to you a plethora of options and unique bundles pertaining to the GeForce 6 series GPU. At BFG's BFG Tech’sproduct pages you find three distinct GF6 series cards being offered; a GeForce 6800 OC, a GeForce 6800GT OC and a GeForce 6800Ultra OC. The OC stands for "OverClocked" and means that these video cards run faster than NVIDIA specification right out of the box and are guaranteed to do so. Worth noting is that these BFGTech GF6 cards are backed by their full lifetime warranty.

BFG even goes one step further than overclocking by creating a GeForce 6800Ultra OC with a waterblock for water cooling to increase core speed even more! They even offer bundles that include, or for purchase separate, a BFG Technologies 530 Watt Power Supply should need to move up in wattage. We will be looking at BFG’s 6800Ultra OC with a Water Block and their 6800GT OC in a later review. For this review we are going to take a look at BFG’s GeForce 6800Ultra OC that is air cooled.

As mentioned, the "OC" on the BFG GeForce 6800Ultra OC stands for "overclocked". This means the core speed is higher than what the reference specification calls for and is guaranteed with a lifetime warranty to run at that speed. The reference core clock speed on a 6800Ultra is 400MHz, the BFG GeForce 6800Ultra OC comes clocked at 425MHz, 25MHz over the reference speed.

Above you see a unique "whitebox" packaging, that will adorn some of the newest BFGTech products. Depending on where you purchase them, the packaging might be whitebox, or it might be a more traditional retail package. Either way, the cards inside are exactly the same.

Notice that the stiff 480watt PSU requirements are spelled out plainly as well as size issues of the double slot space needed on install.
