British Politicians Fall Victim to Twitter Scam

You know that sexually explicit message you got from a British politician last night? Well, I wouldn't go getting too offended just yet, it seems that some politicians fell for a Twitter scam and they probably didn’t send the offending message (I said "probably"). big grin

British politicians were among those caught up Friday in the latest Twitter-based scam which hijacks users' accounts to send out sexually explicit messages to friends and followers. Those tracking the Twitter account of Ed Miliband, the British energy minister, were surprised by a message carrying an unusually direct reference to the politician's sex life.

Chinese Scientists Recalibrate Google's Evil Scale

Recalibrate Google’s evil scale? Why on earth would anyone want to do that?

Of those surveyed, 80 percent said they regularly use Google to find academic papers and nearly 60 percent said they use it to keep abreast of new research. Why Google and not Baidu, which is used as a primary search engine by only 17 percent of respondents? Because Google casts a wider net, indexing information that its Chinese rival does not.

Apple’s 10 Billionth Download Contest Won By 71 Year Old

It doesn’t really surprise me that Apple’s $10,000 iTunes card give-away was won by a 71 year old man. What WOULD be surprising is if the guy is able to live long enough to collect all those songs. Hey…maybe that was the plan all along? eek!

"He called me and said, ‘This is Steve Jobs from Apple.’ I said, ‘Yeah right,’ " Sulcer tells Rolling Stone. "I have a son that loves to play tricks and he does that every now and then — calls me and imitates somebody." After three or four times of asking "Come on now, who is this," Sulcer realized that his caller ID read simply "Apple," and only then did he believe that he was the winner of the contest and a $10,000 iTunes card.

Scientists Examine Causes For 10 year Lull in Warming

First it was the report on melting glaciers that weren’t melting. That was followed by the hacked e-mail scandal that rocked the supporters of the global warming theory. Now scientists say they need more money to figure our why there was a dip in global temperatures between 1999 – 2008. Wait. What?!?

Climate scientists must do more to work out how exceptionally cold winters or a dip in world temperatures fit their theories of global warming, if they are to persuade an increasingly sceptical public. At stake is public belief that greenhouse gas emissions are warming the planet, and political momentum to act as governments struggle to agree a climate treaty which could direct trillions of dollars into renewable energy, away from fossil fuels.
