Intel introduced the Intel® Atom™ processor N470. This new, faster Atom processor for netbooks has integrated graphics built directly into the CPU to help enable improved performance and smaller, more energy-efficient designs for the popular netbook category. The single core Atom processor runs at 1.83GHz, with 512k of L2 cache and DDR2-667 support.
Facebook just won a patent for a "method for displaying a news feed in a social network environment." Uh oh, what does that mean for any site that is considered a social network and displays a "news" feed?
"The launch of News Feed in 2006 was a pivotal moment in Facebook?s history and changed the way millions of people consumed and discovered information on the site," Facebook said Friday in an email response to an AFP inquiry. "We're humbled by the growth and adoption of News Feed over time and pleased with being awarded the patent."

DigiTimes, citing sources from graphics card manufacturers, say that lack of complete reference board designs will keep second tier board makers from mass shipping Fermi based cards until April. The article also mentions pricing with the GTX 480 at $679.99 and GTX 470 at $499.99, which is in line with what we saw earlier this week.
The sources expect Nvidia will give supply priority to first-tier makers or makers that only produce Nvidia cards. Listings offering cards from XFX and PNY with GTX 480 models priced at around US$679.99 and GTX 470 at about US$499.99 were briefly available at some online retailers, but have since been taken down. PNY contacted Digitimes to stress that it is not offering pre-orders for Fermi cards at this time, which implies that the listings were the result of miscommunication in the company's channel.

C|Net is saying the rumor we heard earlier today that Intel is releasing a faster Atom on Monday is true. The new Atom N470 is identical to the N450 except the clock speed is 1.83GHz versus 1.66GHz.
Major PC makers are expected to announce new products or product refreshes with the new processor, the N470, which will be identical to the current 1.66GHz N450 but get bumped to a speed of 1.83GHz, according to a source familiar with the announcement.
According to the New York Times, Intel has confirmed that its recent deal with TSMC has been put on hiatus due to lack of customer demand. On a positive note, the rumor mill says that Intel will make an Atom announcement later today.
There will be no jointly developed Atoms arriving anytime soon, although Intel continues to hope for the best down the road. "I think we had a lot of key learnings from the partnership so far," Robert Crooke, Intel’s Atom chief, said in an interview. "We haven’t given up. These things never happen superfast."

European Union data privacy regulators have told Google that they need to warn people before they send out Street View cameras. You know what that means, right? We are going to see a lot more of these kinds of pictures. 
The company, based in Mountain View, Calif., said it also already posts notifications on its Web site about where its Street View cameras are clicking. The alert system on Thursday indicated Google's picture-taking vehicles have been cruising the streets of Nantes, France and possibly other nearby cities.
