Sega Light Gun Used In 10 Hour Hostage Stand Off

Some dude in Brazil held a woman hostage for ten hours…using a Sega Light Phaser. The good news: the gun was not plugged into the console at the time. The bad news: Jack Thompson has been vindicated, video games can cause real world violence.

A man looking to collect on a debt broke into the house of 60-year-old woman in Brazil's Federal District, holding her hostage for ten hours on the business end of a Sega Light Phaser.

Caffeine May Offer Skin Cancer Protection

Woo Hoo! Thanks to my morning eight shot vanilla latte ritual, I’ll never get skin cancer. Then again, not venturing out of my moms basement during daylight hours probably helps too.

"We have found what we believe to be the mechanism by which caffeine is associated with decreased skin cancer," said lead researcher Dr. Paul Nghiem, an associate professor of dermatology at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Ubuntu Offers Fine Dining

You have to wonder if this is the world’s first open source restaurant. I was going to say "open sauce" but that was just too easy. Heh, open sauce…I made myself laugh with that one.

At Ubuntu, Fox reveals the lowly vegetable's inner beauty in a dish that layers roasted, pureed and raw cauliflower in individual cast-iron pots and gets its seductive kick from vadouvan, a trendy Indian spice blend. Even if you think you don't like cauliflower, this recipe will change your mind.

Cops Use Craigslist To Bust Dopes

Apparently the Mono County sheriff’s department has taken my idea of using Craigslist to bust criminals to heart. Other notable Craigslist arrests we’ve covered can be found here, here, here and here.

Mono County sheriff's deputies told The Orange County (Calif.) Register Wednesday that the suspects were busted after answering an ad posted on Craigslist.com that offered to swap ticket vouchers for the Mammoth Lakes ski area for narcotics.

Ryanair Slams 'Lunatic,' 'Idiot' Blogger

I smell the lawsuit brewing already. Are we taking any bets to see how long it is before the blogger files suit against the airline for defamation. Not saying he'll get anything, that just seems to be the way these things go. roll eyes (sarcastic)

"Ryanair can confirm that a Ryanair staff member did engage in a blog discussion," he told CNN. "It is Ryanair policy not to waste time and energy in corresponding with idiot bloggers, and Ryanair can confirm that it won't be happening again. Lunatic bloggers can have the blog sphere all to themselves, as our people are far too busy driving down the cost of air travel."

Worm Disables CPU Fan, Causes Overheating

Be on the lookout for a worm that causes your CPU fan to stop working, leading to overheating. Since the eAr+h//0rm32.B worm (that’s what I named it) is an actual earthworm, the threat of it spreading is minimal.

The creature had crawled into his £360 old laptop through an air vent and wrapped itself around the internal fan, leading to a total breakdown. The worm itself was burned and frazzled having been 'cooked' by the overheating internal workings of the Gateway laptop computer.
