Optimus Tactus Keyboard

Apparently I don’t go to the Art Lebedev website often enough or I would have saw the Optimus Tactus keyboard concept before now. With the Maximus costing as much as $1,500, I can only imagine how much something like this would cost:

Proposed Law Would Tax Video Games

Are you ready for this? A senator in Wisconsin wants to add a tax to video games and video game hardware. Why a tax on video games? You’ll just love the answer:

The bill's author, state Sen. Jon Erpenbach, said the money raised from the tax isn't to dissuade gamers, but to help cover the cost to move 17-year-olds, who commit non-violent crimes, back into the juvenile system. Currently, 17-year-olds are treated as adults, WISC-TV reported.

Why in the world would anyone apply a tax to video games to cover the cost of teenage offenders? Oh, I forgot, it is the video games that are causing these teens to commit crimes. roll eyes (sarcastic) Thanks to Manny Calavera for the linkage on this one.

Robber Foiled By Bluetooth

I think it is safe to say that technology kicked this dude’s ass all the way around. Bluetooth headsets, timers on safes and auto-locking doors. This guy just couldn’t catch a break.

Keith Allen Sturgill was yelling at the worker not to answer her ringing phone, police in Columbus, Ohio, said. Sturgill also had trouble with the safe, which employees couldn't open because it was on a timer, and with an automatically locking door that kept him outside once he had left the restaurant

Survey Says Americans More Wired

According to a new study, more Americans are doing stuff online like watching TV, posting videos and photos among other things. Not sure why they needed a study for something that obvious but hey, someone needed to do it.

About 38 percent of U.S. consumers are watching TV shows online, 36 percent use their cell phones as entertainment devices and 45 percent are creating online content like Web sites, music, videos and blogs for others, according to a new-media survey.

Hackers Take Aim At Mac OS X

Mac owners are being targeted by hackers and scumbags now that Apple is finally reaching a larger audience. The days of running your Mac with no protection are definitely over.

Apple has better commercials, but the Mac is no harder to break into than a Windows PC, says Gartner security analyst John Pescatore. What's more, most IT shops can automatically patch large numbers of PCs at the same time, while Macs generally have to be patched one at a time, he said.

FBI Debuts Digital Billboards

The FBI is rolling out 150 digital billboards in twenty cities across the country. While this seems pretty cool, it makes you wonder how long it will take for someone to hack one or worse, shoot at it like so many signs you see on the roadside already.

Some 150 digital billboards -- capable of displaying fugitives, missing children, or public safety info in real-time -- to 20 major cities around the country, following a successful trial launched in Philadelphia in September. So if you're planning on committing a felony in Des Moines, Iowa or Akron, Ohio soon, better get it done quick, lest your ugly mug become the talk of the car pool during your morning commute.
