Intel Xeon X5365 – 8 Cores of Fun

BootDaily has a review that shows us what 8 cores in a single machine can really do.

If having eight cores at your disposal doesn’t get you excited then I’d urge you to consider the possibilities. Games like Supreme Commander support multi processor cores and of course the intended professional market place of the XEON is riddled with SMP-enabled applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, 3DStudio, AutoCAD and even office. Windows XP and Vista both have native support for this technology so it’s only logical to conclude that the number of multi-processor cores will continue to grow.

Ubuntu 7 - A Viable Windows Desktop Replacement?

Could it be that we are on the virge of Linux really securing a firm grasp as a viable and useful desktop solution?

Many are resisting upgrading to Windows Vista. Reasons range from performance issues to the general perception of few, if any, value added features. Unfortunately, many Windows users are being forced into Vista by large OEMs such as Dell. By the end of December, XP will no longer be an option when purchasing a new PC.

Manhunt 2 First Look

Gamespot has a pretty lengthy rundown on the follow up to the extremely popular Manhunt that is due later this year.

When the original Manhunt hit, the moody action game offered an atmospheric slice of life that revolved around a deadly game of cat and mouse. The stealth-focused action game cast you as a hapless prisoner that gets pulled into the twisted machinations of a "director" named Starkweather, who's big on snuff films.

GAME Refuses to Stock PS3 Oblivion?

It appears as though one of the major European retailers has refused to stock the Playstation3 version of Oblivion. GAME could not be contacted for comment however, so this could be nothing more than conjecture.

The title, developed by Bethesda and published on the Sony console by Ubisoft, is not available in any of the company's 400 UK and Ireland stores.

If you might have any information on this one, please leave your comments.

Hacking Your Body's Bacteria

Certain scientists believe that our habit of using anti-bacteria everything may actually cause more harm than good, which isn’t new news. What is interesting however is how some people have been treating certain ailments with doses of bacteria.

"Probiotics (pills containing bacteria) have resulted in complete elimination of eczema in 80 percent of the people we've treated," says Dr. Joseph E. Pizzorno Jr., a practicing physician and former member of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy. Pizzorno says he's used probiotics to treat irritable bowel disease, acne and even premenstrual syndrome. "It's unusual for me to see a patient with a chronic disease that doesn't respond to probiotics."
