[H]ardNews 6th Edition

AMD whipping out the 64bit Hammer, demonstrating it with a little Windows.net OS action?? The INQWell says it is so. Interesting stuff, thanks to Shane Thoney for the link.

AMD claims software vendors are falling over themselves to develop 64-bit apps and OSes to run on the platform. Although he refused to name names AMD's manager of the server and workstations group in the US, Mark Tellez, told THE INQ that "practically all" the main software makers had asked for Opteron systems to try out their 64-bit software on.

How about a little Dual AMD MP 2000+ on a 2U chassis action?? Sounds good to me, and PCHardware.ro has the whole write up right here. Good stuff for all you dually freaks thinking about using two AMD processors in tight space constraints.

If you remember my last article you know that I explained in detail the things you have to look for on a motherboard which can be used on a rackmountable chassis. We will take a look to the motherboard layout first. 2U enclosures are not very tolerant from the mechanical point of view: there is only one right solution, you can not play with air flow and mods when dealing with a production server. I will mainly try to find the annoying things because these are the ones which interest me mostly.

A Matrix 2 trailer is out on the net... pretty cool, came out last night but was the connection was mobbed.

Cool news for my good friend Richard "Levelord" Grey of Ritual Entertainment, they are working on the new Lord of the Rings game for Electronic Arts. The news release is right here, they are looking for some 2D and 3D artists as well...so if you got the skillz, and you want to work with some of the coolest guys on the planet...go check it out.
